BVAP
- Balkan Vulture Action Plan:
'Action
Plan for the Recovery and Conservation of Vultures on the Balkan
Peninsula and Adjacent Regions'
The
aim of the Action Plan is to design and develop a long-term strategy
for the recovery of the four vulture species on the Balkan Peninsula,
an important part of their European distribution area, creating
the best possible conditions for natural recovery, and, where
necessary, reintroduction or restocking.
Methods:
The
strategy is based on local and international cooperation, in which
international organizations provide expertise and funding, while
local organizations, GOs and NGOs, carry out the projects. The
local organizations receive support to increase their professional
skills and capacity. This cooperation is carried out within the
framework of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the governments
and international and national vulture conservationist groups,
which provides a basis for long-term cooperation. Baseline funding
is being provided by the FZS, while coordination of the projects
is handled by the BVCF.
