• Local and International Partnership

Since the official start of the Balkan Vulture Action Plan in 2002, all of the conservation work has been based on collaboration between international organizations and organizations from the region.

For successful coordination and planning of the conservation activities partnerships have been established, involving the most experienced international nature conservation organizations working in this area. International project partners take responsibility for coordination of the conservation activities, as well as for international fundraising activities. Local partners are responsible for local or national implementation of the conservation activities. An effort has been made to include the most relevant organizations from each of the countries, NGOs and governmental bodies inclusive, to ensure the successful implementation of the vulture conservation projects.

For official national collaboration and involvement of the governmental authorities a memorandum of understanding has been signed (where necessary) in many of the countries between the ministries for nature conservation, local NGOs and the international project partners.
