    To establish in the long term a self sustaining population of the Griffon Vulture in Central Balkan NP, thus supporting the population of the species on the Balkan Peninsula

    Objective 3: To improve public awareness and encourage local people to support the project
    Objective 4: To carry out regular monitoring in the area

    Conservation of the Large Vultures in the Eastern Rhodopes 2007

    1. Goal of the Project
    To recover the populations of the Large Vultures to healthy levels and preserve the Eastern Rhodopes as a favourable vulture habitat on the Balkans
    2. Objectives
    Objective 1: To prevent future cases of poisoning of necrophagous birds and mitigate the underlying causes for the use of poisons.
    Objective 2: To guarantee sufficient food availability for the existing vultures in the Eastern Rhodopes.
    Objective 3: To provide regular up-to-date comprehensive information on the vulture populations in the Eastern Rhodopes which will allow
    planning and enforcement of adequate conservation measures.
    Objective 4: To improve the public attitudes towards vultures and their role in ecosystems and to increase the awareness among key
    stakeholders about vulture conservation and the importance of these birds for the region.

    Urgent Conservation Measures for the Egyptian Vulture Neophron percnopterus in Bulgaria (phase V)

    1. Goal of the Project
    To stop the decrease of the Bulgarian breeding population of the Egyptian Vulture and to create a basis for long-term nation-wide conservation work for the species, allowing for a successful population recovery.
    2. Objectives
    Objective 1: To undertake statutory and practical conservation measures for the species nationwide through a National Species Action Plan (NSAP), as well as through the Management plans of the Nature Parks with breeding Egyptian Vultures. 
    Objective 2: To provide the necessary monitoring tools for the Egyptian Vulture to allow comprehensive and adequate planning of the species oriented conservation activities. 
    Objective 3: To maintain and develop the capacity and the partnerships of conservation teams at areas with breeding sites of Egyptian Vultures.
    Objective 4: To reduce the effects of the known threatening factors at a majority of breeding sites according to the known specifics of them.

    Long-term conservation of wild predators, birds of prey and other threatened species in Bulgaria, and increasing the local people’s tolerance of predators and birds of prey in the target area
    2. Objectives
    Objective 1: Reduction of human/predator conflict by reducing livestock damages caused by predators and birds of prey
    Objective 2: Reduction of the illegal use of poisoned baits in the natural environment for the killing of wild predators 
    Objective 3: Promote beneficial co-existence of wildlife and the local community 
    Objective 4: Support the vulture reintroduction process in south-western Bulgaria

    Against Poison (Antidote) Activities of FWFF – Sofia

    To minimize and control the use of poison baits and thereby ensure a "friendly" environment for vultures and other carcass - eating threatened species.

    Objective 2: To ensure legal collection of samples when poisoning incidents occur 
    Objective 3: Involvement of state institutions in against poison activities

    Activities for the Restoration of the Populations of the Black and Griffon Vultures as the First Step for the Reintroduction of the Bearded Vulture in Bulgaria 2007

    1. Goal of the Project
    The achievement of suitable conditions for the restoration of the bearded and black vulture populations. To begin initial restoration of the griffon vulture population.
    2. Objectives
    Objective 1: Launch of the griffon vulture reintroduction programme in “Sinite Kamani”. Creation of suitable conditions in the Eastern Balkan Mountains for the reintroduction of the griffon vulture, as a preliminary step for the reintroduction of the bearded vulture.
    Objective 2: Creation of suitable conditions for the reintroduction of griffon and bearded vultures in the Western Rhodopes; attracting birds from the griffon vulture colonies in the Eastern Rhodopes.
    Objective 3: To reduce the use of poisonous baits for predator control in Bulgaria.
    Objective 4: To popularise the “Action Plan for the Recovery and Conservation of Vultures on the Balkan Peninsula and Adjacent Regions” amongst responsible state institutions, scientific bodies, NGOs, and target groups in the areas where vultures are present and those areas envisaged for reintroduction.
